Ce week-end, Matt Smith a annoncé son départ de la série.
Celui-ci aura lieu lors de l'épisode spécial de Noël où le personnage procédera à sa douzième régénération.
Lorsque le renouvellement pour la saison 8 de Doctor Who a été annoncé, le discours adopté et les différentes interviews de Smith laissaient penser qu'il participerait à une partie de la saison 8.
Malheureusement, ce ne sera pas le cas. On devrait connaître son remplaçant dans les mois qui viennent.
Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman) sera la deuxième compagne du Docteur depuis le retour de la série en 2005 à assister à une régénération. Elle rejoint Rose (Billie Piper) qui avait assisté à sa régénération en décembre 2005.
Plus jeune, plus vieux, on ne sait rien de ce nouveau docteur. Une femme, un homme ? Ronchon, plus fou, moins fou. Chaque Docteur est différent. Matt Smith campait un Docteur à la fois plus fou et plus sage que Tennant malgré sa jeunesse.
Est-ce que Moffat va aller plus loin et prendre plus jeune acteur ? On le saura suffisamment tôt.
Certains se rappelleront de leur réaction à la vue de la première photo de Matt Smith lorsqu'il a été annoncé. Certains se rappelleront que 10 secondes après qu'il ait commencé à parler dans le Confidential le présentant, toutes nos inquiétudes s'étaient envolées. Si l'on peut reprocher beaucoup de choses à Moffat, on ne pourra jamais lui reprocher ses choix dans ses castings.
En Angleterre, les paris (légaux) sont déjà ouverts sur qui prendra la relève, du plus étrange au plus improbable. Le nom de David Tennant a déjà fait surface. Ce que l'on sait c'est que la dernière fois, personne n'avait vu venir Matt Smith, il est probable qu'aucun des noms annoncés ces deux derniers jours ou ceux qui le seront dans les prochaines semaines ne soit le bon.
Steven Moffat a déclaré à l'annonce officielle du départ de Matt Smith : Somewhere out there right now - all unknowing, just going about their business - is someone who's about to become the Doctor. A life is going to change, and Doctor Who will be born all over again! After 50 years, that's still so exciting!
Quelque part dans ce monde - inconscient et vaquant à ses occupations - il y a quelqu'un qui est sur le point de devenir le Nouveau Docteur. Une vie va être transformée et Doctor Who va de nouveau renaître. Après 50 ans, c'est toujours excitant !
La saison 7 est en cours de diffusion sur France 4 (la deuxième partie sera diffusée à partir du 15 juin prochain) ; profitez-en, il ne restera alors que deux épisodes avec le talentueux Matt ; pas des moindres, puisqu'il a l'honneur de participer aux 50 ans de la série. L'épisode sera diffusé le 23 novembre prochain sur BBC One. On attend que France 4 annonce sa participation aux célébrations.

I'm incredibly grateful to all the cast and crew who work tirelessly every day, to realise all the elements of the show and deliver Doctor Who to the audience. Many of them have become good friends and I'm incredibly proud of what we have achieved over the last four years.
